Jada Metcalf Founder of IMPACT Doula Training
CCHW, CPD, CBS, IME
Jada Metcalf has been training doulas since 2024 and mentoring lactation professionals since 2023 using her Mind, Body & Babee doula training method. Jada has attended births since 2021 during the pandemic supporting a total of 80+ births to date. All of these aspiring doula students have found IMPACT Doula Training to fill a significant role in their doula professional journey while mitigating the Black Maternal & Infant Mortality and Black breastfeeding rates here in Georgia and nationwide.

Jada’s IMPACT Doula certification program is one of the few Doula training programs with an exclusive focus on birth to breastfeeding care. In July of 2024 the IMPACT Doula Certification program became fully accessible as a hybrid course proving online and in person hands on advanced skills training as well.
Jada believes that families have an easier and happier start when they have support as their family grows from conception to reception and beyond. She has been able to offer this support in a variety of ways since 2016 with the birth to breastfeeding experience of her own two children.
FAQ's
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained, non-medical support person who provides emotional, physical, and informational care to families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Doulas offer advocacy, reassurance, comfort techniques, and education — helping birthing people feel empowered, seen, and supported through life’s most transformative seasons.

Do I need any experience or medical background to become a doula?
No medical background is required! Our doula training is open to all — including parents, healers, caregivers, and new birth workers. We teach everything you need to begin offering confident, compassionate care from a culturally grounded and trauma-informed approach.

What’s the difference between a birth doula and a postpartum doula?
-
A birth doula supports families during labor and birth by offering comfort measures, advocacy, and emotional presence.
-
A postpartum doula supports the healing process after birth with infant care, body care, emotional processing, and practical home support.
Many doulas train in both areas and offer continuous care from pregnancy through postpartum.

What makes this doula training different?
Our training is rooted in the Mind-Body-Babee™ Model of Care, which centers:
-
Mind: emotional wellness and trauma-informed presence
-
Body: hands-on skills, herbs, bodywork, and rest
-
Babee: cultural ritual, ancestral healing, and sacred support
We also emphasize reproductive justice, cultural humility, grief support, and doula sustainability, so you can offer care that truly nourishes your clients and yourself.

Will I be certified after the training?
Yes. You will receive a Certificate of Completion after attending the full training and completing any required practice or reflection activities, reading assignments and exam. This certification allows you to begin working with clients, building your doula business, or joining doula collectives. You literally can leave the training as a certified doula!

What’s included in the training?
Each training includes:
-
In-person or live virtual classes
-
Herbal and bodywork demos
-
Reflection prompts & reading checklists
-
Access to our private community chats
-
Certificate of Completion
-
Optional business coaching or mentorship support

Does the training cover loss, trauma, or birth complications?
Yes. We believe in honoring all birth outcomes. Our training includes a pregnancy and infant loss care module, and we teach doulas how to offer trauma-informed, grief-literate support for miscarriage, stillbirth, and birth after trauma. You’ll also learn advocacy tools for supporting families through medicalized or unexpected birth outcomes.

What should I bring to in-person training?
We recommend bringing:
-
A notebook, journal and/or electronic device
-
Comfortable layered clothing
-
A water bottle and snacks
-
Any personal or cultural objects you’d like to add to our group altar
-
Your full presence and an open heart
All learning materials are digital and any care or educational models or tools will be provided unless otherwise noted.

How much does doula training cost? Do you offer payment plans?
Most of our trainings cost $550. We include in person AHA First Aid/CPR classes as well.
We offer flexible payment plans, BIPOC scholarships, and community discounts based on fiscal funding because we believe birthwork should be accessible and sustainable.

How do I register or learn more?
